Ana Quinajon
Growing up, I witnessed my mother place great importance on education, not just as a personal achievement, but as a responsibility to one day pay it forward. She was a professor herself, and her journey was one of resilience and determination. Coming from a poor upbringing and growing up alongside ten siblings, she worked tirelessly to pursue her education, ultimately achieving her dreams. Despite the challenges she faced, she remained deeply committed to giving back to her community and uplifting others through scholarship programs she spearheaded and led during her lifetime. Being part of this foundation is deeply personal to me - it is a way of honoring her legacy and continuing the values she instilled.
As a nurse, service to others is not just a profession, it is an innate part of who I am. Nursing has taught me to advocate, to uplift, and to meet people where they are, especially during vulnerable moments in their lives. In many ways, serving on the Selection Committee reflects that same calling. It is an opportunity to recognize potential, support aspirations, and help remove barriers for individuals who may not have the same access to resources or support.
I strongly believe that education is one of the most powerful tools a person can have. It equips individuals with knowledge, confidence, and the ability to shape their own future.
By contributing to this foundation as Selection Committee Co-Chair, I am not only helping invest in students’ futures, but also continuing a cycle of compassion, opportunity, and empowerment that began with my mother.
To me, being part of this foundation means carrying forward a legacy of service, embodying the spirit of giving, and making a meaningful impact, one student at a time.
